We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Production Engineer for the Base Surveillance Team in our Onshore Resources & Carbon Management Production Operations organization.

This position will be in Houston, TX. The Production Engineer is responsible for developing and applying innovative production surveillance tools and workflows through strong collaboration with Business Unit operations and engineering personnel.  If you are a dynamic and sociable person who thrives in building strong relationships throughout the project ownership life cycle, then this opportunity may be a great fit for you.

Responsibilities:

Our team works with conventional, unconventional, waterflood, CO2 flood, and steam flood recovery projects around the world. The diversity in wells, artificial lift, reservoirs, recovery mechanisms, and geographic locations makes this opportunity daring but also very rewarding.

We are constantly striving to expedite and optimize economic recovery of hydrocarbons from some of the largest and most challenging reservoirs in the world. You will find that the project inventory, the utilization of new technology, and the entrepreneurial spirit associated with Oxy and this technical support team are unique in the industry. This combination will provide the right candidate with a professionally fulfilling and growing experience.

You will be part of an integrated team of highly qualified reservoir engineers, production engineers, and data scientists striving to put in place all the necessary datasets, tools, multidiscipline workflows, and key performance indicators necessary to monitor and optimize Oxy’s base production domestically and internationally. The candidate should have a keen desire to creatively apply new technologies and workflows to base surveillance production and optimization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant field of study
  • Minimum 5 years upstream oil and gas experience in production, facilities, or automation engineering
  • Strong knowledge of production operations
  • Familiarity in facility and automation concepts and their practical implementation
  • Creative thinker with a desire to challenge the status quo and conventional thinking with the ability to influence new ideas, processes, and technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently
  • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills that are necessary to work with multidisciplinary customers with varying degrees of experience
  • Strong communication skills to effectively mentor and develop others with strong listening skills to learn from others in and individual or group setting

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with SCADA systems (CygNet, Iconics) and OSI PI
  • Experience with databases and SQL Syntax
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data quickly from multiple data sources with a variety of tools
