Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Estimator - Heavy Bid Construction -Transit/Tunnel to be based in Los Angeles, California.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Prepare cost estimates, using bottom-up, parametric and analogy methods.
    • Prepare bases of estimate.
    • Recommend measurement and payment units.
    • Compile historical material, labor, and vendor cost data.
    • Conduct construction site visits to gather information to be used in preparing cost estimates and reviewing payment applications.
    • Analyze costs of alternative designs and construction methods
    • Perform cost analysis of contractor’s cost proposal.
    • Evaluate change orders, value engineering reports, and claims.
    • Support contract negotiations and change negotiations.
    • Prepare reports, memos, and letters and presentations.

    Ideal Candidate will have:

     

    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of
      • Principles and practices of project cost estimating through all phases of the project life cycle.
      • Underground construction methods, production rates, and contracting types.
      • Reading and interpretation of construction plans and specifications
      • Principles and practices of construction services and materials procurement.
      • Estimating software and tools
      • Statistical analysis methods.
      • Principles and practices of budget preparation and administration.
      • Principles of business letter writing and report preparation.

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    • BA/BS + 10 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

      Desired Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field
      • 12 years of progressive experience in preparing heavy bid cost estimates for underground projects, with at least 2 large or complex projects of greater than $500 million.
      • Certification in estimating from American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE), Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE), or International Cost Estimating and Analysis Association (ICEAA)
      • Professional Engineer (PE) license
      • Experience in all major underground construction techniques, including tunnel boring machine (TBM) tunneling, sequential excavation method (SEM) tunneling, drill and blast, cut-and-cover construction, shafts, ground improvement, groundwater management, instrumentation, and monitoring.
      • Experience with light rail, heavy rail, or passenger rail projects
      • Experience in cost estimating of mechanical and electrical components for underground facilities.
      • Experience in cost estimating of track and systems for transit projects.
      • Experience providing estimating for contractor. Specifically, design-build contractors.

      Additional Information

      Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000.
