The Nextest Division of Teradyne, located in San Jose CA is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineering intern to join the team. The intern will need to work on-site at our San Jose, CA office.

 

This position is unfortunately not eligible for visa sponsorship opportunities.

We are only considering candidates local to position location and are unable to provide relocation for this position.

 

Position Description

 

Working with lead engineers, assist in various areas of product development cycle.  Concept, design, analysis, documentation, and prototype assembly of mechanical systems, tooling and fixtures.  Gain experience in areas of sheetmetal packaging, mechanisms, pneumatic and electronic controls systems.  The project areas include mechanical, AC power distribution, and controls design. 


Education:

 

  • Mechanical Engineering student (minimum) or equivalent
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA in relevant engineering coursework

 
Required Experience:

 

  • 3D CAD (Solidworks preferred)
  • Experience with electro mechanical design and assembly
  • Microcontroller programming, example Arduino or eq.
  • 3D printing
  • Experience with building mechanical assemblies using basic hand tools
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written)
  • This is an on-site position (not remote), located in San Jose, CA.

 
Desirable skills:

 

  • Team leadership skills and experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques (machining, sheetmetal forming, injection molding, etc.)
  • Safe working knowledge of AC power and wiring
  • Experience with electronics and control systems.
