The Materials & Processes Engineering Coating Development Group is seeking a highly motivated Metallographic Technician to assist in the development of new material development and production support activities. The individual will be focused on the preparation, review, and analysis of metallographic samples in support of the engineering activities related to commercial, military, and developmental engine programs.
What You Will Do:
- Technician will work as a member of a cross functional team to generated needed materials data to support various engine programs.
- Technician will work directly with engineers to document and execute the evaluation plan for the material.
- Material evaluations will comprise: Sectioning, Mounting, and Polishing and documentation of samples to obtain information for the respective part(s)
- Documentation will include capturing microstructural images using digital cameras, optical microscopes, and scanning electron microscopy.
Qualifications You Must Have
- AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Examples of Laboratory Experience: Using test equipment to evaluate the properties of a material, collection of measurement and/or relevant test data related to a sample, preparation and evaluation of a sample to understand the microstructure of the material is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- Basic Microsoft Office PC skills.
- Experience in the metallurgical evaluation of coatings and aerospace alloy systems operating in a gas turbine engine environment (i.e. various coatings, titanium alloys, and nickel-based super alloys).
- Able to perform in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.

The salary range for this role is 40,000 USD - 70,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
