What You Will Do

The Hot Section Module Center (HSMC) in East Hartford, CT is looking to add a Quality Assurance Analyst (P1) to support metallographic testing and evaluation of engine component samples. This position is for an engineer to perform metallographic evaluation of blade and vane airfoils for various manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for metallurgical sample preparation, evaluation, disposition and quality documentation of materials and processes. Interpretation of blueprints, specifications, procedures and laboratory manuals to assess what testing is required and conformance to requirements is a critical aspect of this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regular interaction with the production as well as other engineering disciplines to help respond to metallurgical problems and develop effective root cause and corrective action for manufacturing problems.

  • Effective team player and contributor utilizing the CORE tools and continues improvement by maintaining EH&S and operating requirements in order to assure a safe and productive working environment. Position may also require occasional off-shift and weekend coverage based on business requirements.

  • Perform metallographic evaluation and documentation of various processes as advance/aluminides coating, laser, EDM, braze, grinding used in blade and vanes airfoils.

  • Provide clear, concise and accurate lab reports. Maintain records, mounts and sample residue retention. Monitor testing frequency of all processes.

  • Develop cut up and evaluation sheet for all tested parts.

  • Investigation of various parts and process related problems.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ months of experience in Materials Science, Engineering, or Quality Engineering.

  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access and handle sensitive data required to support our government and military programs.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Degree in Materials Science, or Engineering discipline focused on Metallurgy or Metallography.

  • 1+ years of experience in metallographic testing, examination and documentation.

  • Quality engineering or materials science background, and experience with root cause investigations, corrective actions and problem-solving tools.

  • Strong proficiency in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

  • Knowledge of Aerospace Quality and manufacturing standards.

  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) with a commitment to accuracy.

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/SixSigma).

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including senior level management.

The salary range for this role is 53,000 USD - 103,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
