 Provides leadership and supervision for the Speech Language Pathology (SLP) program in alignment with department, division, and District goals.

 What You'll Do: 
  • Supervises and evaluates the work of the Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs), associates (SLPAs), and the SLP supervisor
  • Provides leadership in developing and implementing departmental practices, policies, and procedures
  • Co-Plans, coordinates, and conducts departmental meetings; organizes and plans departmental professional development; and organizes and oversees departmental committees and advisory groups
  • Develops and manages yearly departmental budget, including purchasing of assessment materials, therapy supplies, and therapy equipment
  • Manages supply stock and equipment, equipment database, and maintains constant inventory stock of day-to-day supplies
  • Provides guidance, feedback, and advice to staff regarding educational SLP services as related services, including role within the Response to Intervention (RtI) and Individualized Education Program (IEP) processes and knowledge of professional ethics, federal, and state policies and procedures
  • Participates in hiring of SLPs/SLPAs with a diverse committee, including the possibility of working with outside contract agencies in the event of a staff shortage
  • Collects and analyzes staff data related to caseloads/workloads and creates appropriate data reports
  • Provides guidance and support to therapy staff regarding departmental assessment materials, including their administration, scoring, interpretation, and if applicable, computer scoring software
  • Other duties as assigned

 What You’ll Need: 
  • Master's Degree - Speech Language or Communication Disorders - Required
  • Minimum of five (5) plus years of experience as a school-based Speech Language Pathologist - Required
  • Minimum of five (5) plus years experience with diverse populations, Response to Intervention (RtI), and SLP interventions that align with educational performance - Required
  • Minimum of three (3) plus years of experience as a supervisor or coordinator, Preferred
  • Knowledge of the practice standards and ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlines by professional organizations and/or federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies and procedures regarding SLP services as well as special education
  • Work style that yields high results when working independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to foster effective relationships with district staff, schools, and external partners
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals, establish priorities, and organize resources
  • Ability to multi-task without compromising integrity or fidelity
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products and/or Project Management Software (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Inspired visionary who can foster/generate excitement, buy-in, and understanding with colleagues and employees outside of the team
  • High degree of integrity in handling confidential information
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records, develop meaningful reports based upon data, and use data analysis to make appropriate recommendations
  • Ability to professionally develop and support staff
  • Knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in emergency situations
