Overview 

 

As a seasoned Business Support Specialist, you will support Compassion’s accounting team in key cross-functional initiatives and as a subject matter expert on business-as-usual activities. You will act as a key point of contact to various neighbor groups and help to determine the relevance of information and cascade it appropriately. You will help identify opportunities and recommend and implement solutions to help Accounting work more efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities include skilled work across various areas including: process design, communications, change management, project management, research, analysis, business intelligence, business operations, and information management. You will work independently with a keen eye for detail and with a spirit of initiative to anticipate and solve challenges as an integral member of our Accounting team.

  • Identifies and analyzes significant business process problems and helps define the scope of activities required to address the issues, including requirement definitions, process reviews, impact assessment and operational streamlining, where appropriate, to increase productivity and efficiency. 

  • Prepares supporting documentation such as presentations, future state maps, success metrics, business requirements and related impact analysis. 

  • Oversees the department budget working with assigned FP&A analyst. 

  • May perform department specific duties sometimes related to other job subfamilies such as data analysis, basic procurement, tours and events, basic human resources, basic accounting, disbursement reconciliation, and/or program development.  

  • Gathers business data such as project costs or process metrics, analyzes the information, prepares forecasts, and generates and presents reports based on this analysis. Serves as a project manager for medium-sized projects with moderate scope and complexity.  

  • Prepares and relays communication concerning business operations and outcomes to appropriate audiences to foster understanding and acceptance for initiatives, policies, and practices. Further, contributes to change integration across projects within the team. 

  • Trains and advises key stakeholders on processes, guidelines, and opportunities related to the group or program projects and strategies, potentially including regional and field office audiences. May liaise between assigned department and other neighbors.
