Overview: The Director of Store Planning will support the Real Estate Development Department, with major responsibilities focused on new store project management, remodels, and relocations.  This position will report to the Vice President of Real Estate and Construction but will interact with all levels of the Development Department, including Construction, Store Operations, Brand Design, and the external vendor base.

Responsibilities

Pre-Development

  • When required, attend site visits to assess existing conditions of any locations, develop project strategies and identify opportunities for the adaptive reuse of unique and Brand-appropriate elements. Coordinate findings and information with the VP of Real Estate to support the financial aspects of any new deals.

Design and Planning

  • Manage all design professionals from the initial Release for Survey, through the Due Diligence process, Design Phase, Construction Drawings and Permits.
  • Manage the design process during the Design Review Meetings (DRM) with the Germany team, including active feedback on design packets.
  • Facilitates the management of all design drawing sets.
  • Directly manage the Architects of Record
  • Manage all construction drawing sets.
  • Manage the design professionals through any planning and zoning.
  • Manage the building permit process for all projects.
  • Partner with Real Estate to incorporate the Work Letter responsibilities in the drawing sets.
  • Partner with the various internal groups and their vendors, to secure Low Voltage drawings and specifications.
  • Partner with the Purchasing Team to incorporate the Tenant Supplied Material (TSM) schedule in the drawing sets.
  • Review check set progress drawings to reduce errors and omissions, promote clarity, and to ensure best practices have been applied to eliminate unnecessary cost overruns. Collect and vet comments from the Design, Construction and General Contractors.
  • Manage the Prototype Architect to update and issue quarterly.
  • Manage the technical bulletin development and issuance.

Development

  • Support the Construction team through the completion of the projects.
  • Manage the Shop Drawings review process.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role as a retail rollout Store Planner.
  • Degree in Architecture or strong Architectural background
  • A knowledge of building, fire and ADA codes, as supported by design professionals 
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project.
  • CAD skills preferred but not required.
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of motivation, passion and focused on success.
  • Must be able to work independently, multi-task and possess a strong attention to detail.
  • Must possess high bandwidth level to permit multiple project assignments at any one time.
  • Willing and able to travel throughout North America approximately 25% of the time.
