PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION OF JOB
Operate all assigned machines in Convocan department and following safety standards, production schedule requirements, and Huhtamaki and customer specification requirements.
RESPONSABILITIES
- Work safely at all times following Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), safe work practice policies and procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Load and unload unwind stands
- Complete cold start up and shut down procedures (start and stop the machine and clear jams without assistance)
- Cleans accumulators and trenches
- Regulates machine by setting and adjusting controls to department condition sheets
- Runs machines adhering to department standards
- Performs general machine adjustments as described in the training syllabus
- Troubleshoots and checks machine for malfunctions and calls for maintenance when needed
(i.e. – Air leaks, oil leaks, the machine running hot and making unusual sounds, seam variation, bonding issue, tube length adjustments, ring ID)
- Interprets shop order details and instructions
- Verifies and moves required material to work centers
- Follows mixed copy procedures
- Performs quality checks and enter data into NWA system
- Assist the packer with changing rolls, dumping rings and assisting with flavor and size changes
- Properly dismantles machinery and equipment when performing knife changes
- Records production/downtime data accurately in PI and BPCS system
- Performs shift change and order change without assistance
- Performs daily machine clean up
- Maintains department cleanliness to SQF (Safe Quality Standards) standards
- Maintains correct and sufficient material on the floor at all times
- Participates in Lean Events as scheduled
- Able to perform tasks on multiple machines at one time
- Rebuild knife assemblies and remove/replace on cutters
- Changes winding belts and doctor blade for glue application
- Assist during mechanical PM
- Performs weekly Clean up/PM
- Performs Annual Clean up
- Assist packer with the troubleshooting cover machine
- When needed reject poor quality material by filling out proper rejection forms for QA
- Uses measuring instruments while performing job functions
- Additional duties in the department as assigned
- Carries out environmental compliance tasks, as appropriate to the position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSABILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibility
EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED preferred
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in the operation of industrial machinery (experience performing adjustments and repairs in a production environment preferred)
- Should posses mechanical aptitude abilities
- Understand and be able to read product specifications is highly desired.
- Ability to read/write in English; capable of acting to written or verbal instruction
- Basic understanding of math concept to complete production reporting requiremen
