VSCO is looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join our Web Studio team in building and running a new flagship VSCO product. Our team is in the formation process, so you will collaborate closely on technical leadership to play a significant role in defining and building our team as well as our codebase. You’re a teammate that is eager to learn, willing to teach, and ready to dig into issues and take initiative. You are driven by providing scalable, performant, and reliable solutions, as well as future growth for VSCO’s new Web Studio product. You understand the server as well as the client and are excited by engineering solutions for both. You value teamwork, enjoy collaboration, and want to help your teammates grow. 

The day-to-day

• Co-architect the end-to-end stack and MVP approach for a greenfield web product 
• Collaborate with engineering teams to bring technical requirements in line with current methods
• Assist in code reviews and provide feedback on design documents and architectural decisions
• Partner with the rest of the team to mentor and grow junior engineers, while defining best practices for them in code

Qualifications

• 6+ years applicable work experience
• Experience in bringing a new product to market from net-zero 
• Experienced with programming languages like C/C++, WebGL/OpenGL, Go, NodeJS, Python
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex production issues, including network-related ones, as well as helping identify and prioritize their remediations
• Excellent communication skills: you are excited to explain complex systems and concepts to different types of audiences
• Experience leading technical architecture discussions and driving decisions within your team, as well as understanding the tradeoffs between different solutions
• Strong experience automating operational processes
• Experience with AWS or GCP

Nice to have

• Experience with graphics processing engines
• Experience building multi-tenant, white-label applications
• Experience with MongoDB, MySQL, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Kafka, etc.
• Experience with CDNs and caching best practices
• Experience with microservices architecture
• A personal connection to photography and/or art

Compensation

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors, such as qualifications, experience, and skills. The base salary range for this role is $170,000 - $180,000. Salary is one component of the total compensation package, which includes bonuses (if eligible), equity, flexible time off, and other benefits.
