The Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, will play a critical role in shaping and executing the company’s global communications strategy at a pivotal stage of growth, including support of two gene therapy launches and market-shaping activities around a highly anticipated Phase 3 program.
Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Communications, this role is responsible for supporting the development and execution of integrated communications plans that enhance corporate reputation, support product commercialization, and communicate clinical and regulatory milestones. The position maintains key cross-functional partnerships to help maintain a consistent corporate narrative across all channels and stakeholders -- including media, investors, employees, advocates, patients and clinicians, policymakers, and payers.
The ideal candidate brings experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical communications, strong storytelling capabilities, and keen attention to detail.
Work Model:
Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Support company reputation via the pull-through of the company’s corporate narrative across external channels.
- Drive and execute external communication plans related to key milestones including product launches, lifecycle milestones, clinical trial readouts, and regulatory approvals. Manage and maintain communications cascades to ensure seamless collaboration across functions timed to key milestones.
- Support development of a wide range of materials including press releases, key messages, Q&A, media pitches and briefing documents, op-eds, blog posts, and social media content; and liaise with subject matter experts and legal/compliance reviewers to obtain necessary input and review.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Patient Advocacy, Commercial, Clinical, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Investor Relations, Government Affairs, Internal Communications) on materials and stakeholder engagement plans to ensure alignment and message consistency.
- With agency support, manage a monitoring program across traditional and social media to ensure organizational awareness of key external developments impacting the biopharmaceutical industry, rare disease policy and scientific advancements, and the patient communities we serve.
- Manage Veeva submission and review process for materials as required.
- Represent Corporate Communications in cross-functional forums to provide strategic insights and capture action items.
- Contribute to digital communications strategies across corporate website, social media, and other online platforms.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and 8 + years of experience in corporate communications, preferably within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare plus.
