Position Status: Full-Time  

FLSA Status: Non-exempt 

Pay Rate:  The pay range for this role is generally $55,000-$60,000  annually, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI) drives dramatic improvements in the health of New Yorkers by feeding people who are hungry, healing families broken apart by violence, and bridging the gaps between people and the compassionate health care they deserve. CHASI provides outreach, education, prevention, and direct support services for populations most affected by health disparities – people with low or no income, low-income people with chronic illnesses, people with criminal justice involvement, people who use drugs, domestic violence survivors, people of color, and the LGBTQ community. 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) program provides case management for those who are involved with the legal system and exhibit the need for substance use and/ or mental health treatment. The program facilitates access to care, treatment, and social services with the long-term goal of preventing future arrests and incarceration and managing their healthcare.  

The Clinical Coordinator will provide clinical support to the team by reviewing treatment plans, participating in case conferences, and addressing mental health crises. The program operates through a team approach, with the client as the active participant in the team. Services are strength-based and trauma-informed. The counseling services provided by the Clinical Coordinator will be short-term and will conclude once the member is connected to long-term mental health services in the community or completes their program mandate. Additionally, the Clinical Coordinator will complete assessments such as biopsychosocial evaluations and connect clients to other resources such as housing.  

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Oversees treatment planning and treatment plan execution in coordination with the Director of Justice Initiatives. 
• Provides strengths-based & trauma-related, short term counseling supportive services.  
• Provides administrative and/or clinical supervision to program staff.  
• Completes comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluations, safety planning, and/or risk assessments with clients.  
• Coordinates services designed to integrate substance use treatment, mental health, and other recovery support services for program participants.  
• Prepares documentation required to submit client’s progress to court.  
• Attends team and departmental meetings, trainings, and external provider meetings.  
• Participates in Quality Assurance activities and Quality improvement projects.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Master’s degree in social work or mental health counseling required.  
• Licensure such as LMSW, LMHC required. LCSW preferred. 
• At least 2 years of experience providing Mental Health and/or Substance use counseling or other relevant populations.  
• At least one year of experience supervising staff or ability to demonstrate supervisory and program management skills. 
• Experience utilizing trauma-informed care and harm reduction models. 
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred. 
• Cultural competency and interest in health care equity, social justice, and public health. 
• Experience collaborating within a multi-disciplinary, diverse team, maintaining a healthy work environment that encourages equity, professionalism, respect, diversit
