We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a position in Geismar, LA. This position provides technical engineering information to company supervision and crafts to ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, and specifications. Non-exempt role; Reports to Engineering Manager or Project Manager; Establishes procedures for specific goals in broad area of work / only results are reviewed / develops procedures within limits of policy and guidelines.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of technical training
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience
- Working knowledge of surveying techniques and equipment
- Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate with others is essential
- Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
- Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others at the workplace
Functional Requirements:
- Interpret designs / drawings for crafts.
- Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference, and errors.
- Prepare field design change requisitions and "as built" drawings as required.
- Prepare and disseminate to Supervisor all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists describing work items to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc.
- Verify that all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications.
- Review and comment on constructability of design as required. Conduct value engineering functions.
- Attend meetings with other contractors, clients, or A/E representatives to coordinate discipline's design and construction effort.
- Provide necessary building control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials or equipment.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Compensation
Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:
May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing / sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; typing / data entry; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment
