What we’re looking for:

Senior Operations Consultant I, Control Systems

The role of Senior Operations Consultant is primarily focused on Power System Operations and Commissioning activities conducted by and for electric utility companies and related organizations. This work can include advising dispatch staff, conducting system checkout prior to cutover of SCADA / ADMS / EMS / OMS / MMS systems, conducting Point to Point Testing, training of new operational staff and generally providing Operational support whenever needed.

The work may be performed at utility sites vendor office locations or remotely and may involve the use of vendor specific Dispatcher Training Simulators loaded with utility specific data models..

Essential Responsibilities

The Senior Operations Consultant I, will conduct a variety of assignments.

  • Advise clients on operational processes and direction as it relates to their SCADA / EMS /ADMS / OMS/ Markets systems
  • Develop methodologies for operational product testing, point-to-point checkouts
  • Develop operational procedures to aid in operator development for new and existing job tasks as requested
  • Manage deliverables and hours for individual and team projects
  • Prepare and review reports,
  • Prepare and maintain records
  • Develop application/function design and operation
  • Mentor, coach and develop junior engineers/consultants/power system operators
  • Manage client expectations through regular communication and responsiveness
  • Provide project integration and support for the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA),Energy Management Systems (EMS), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS),and Market Operations Systems
  • Oversee and/or participate in the development of procedures and scripts to help in areas such as data conversion, system configuration, system operation, testing and Power System Operator (PSO) Training.
  • Oversee and/or participate in display editing and creation for new and existing systems
  • Oversee and/or participate in testing of systems which includes providing feedback of testing results to client and vendors.
  • Assist in Problem resolution including participating in performing root cause analysis and interacting with customer and application vendor engineers
  • Improvement of system operation and maintenance documentation based on continuous reviews
