About You and this Role
As a Senior Materials Engineer for Dow, you will be responsible for materials selection, corrosion control, corrosion study assessment and Risk-Based Inspection Assessment (RBI) for the Freeport Site. Internal clients range from engineering services, new construction projects, operating production facilities, maintenance, and utility operations. In this role, you will work closely with a group of highly experienced engineers and technicians to provide technical advice and recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a subject matter expert in equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations.
- Provide Materials Engineering support in the uses and applications of metallic materials in new projects and existing plant equipment. This includes support for proper material selection, testing and inspection strategy.
- Provide corrosion study assessment, Risk-Based Inspection Assessment (RBI) and troubleshooting
- Work with inspectors and maintenance engineers in the troubleshooting and repair of vessels, tanks and piping to maximize safety and reliability.
- Leading/facilitating team and group meetings as well as interacting with project teams, vendors and inspectors.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
- Possession of a TWIC card or eligibility to obtain a TWIC card may be required for this position. Per the US Government and Department of Homeland Security policy and regulations, you may apply for a TWIC card if you are a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, naturalized citizen or a nonimmigrant alien, asylee, or refugee who is in lawful status.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills
- A bachelor's degree or higher in Materials Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Communication.

- Planning and organizational skills to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail is necessary to maintain the required documentation.
