Applied Materials’ Office of the CTO is searching for a Business Development Intern to join our team. The Office of the CTO pursues new and adjacent markets through materials engineering. We are looking for a passionate technologist combined with a business-savvy personality to bring an actionable and impactful plan for commercializing new technologies developed in our growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Build dynamic models to estimate manufacturing process costs for new technologies
  • Benchmark cost of ownership for Applied Materials’ technology against alternative solutions in the industry
  • Identify and propose areas for improving efficiency (yield and throughput) and differentiation compared to competitive alternatives
  • Support technology and business team in developing product roadmap

Requirements

  • Student must be pursuing an MBA with a background in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrated ability to build complex spreadsheets and models
  • Thorough knowledge of process cost drivers including materials (direct and indirect), equipment, labor, throughput, yield, etc.
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with cross-functional subject experts
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Proven ability to work independently and take initiative

Compensation

$32 - 41 per hour

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on a number of factors including education level and will vary depending on confirmed job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
