Job Description Summary

QE Technician works closely with quality engineers to investigate product nonconformance incidents to identify root cause of the issue, and define and implement preventive measures to reduce future recurrence. They will also analyze complaint information and conduct thorough investigation into the defect and how it escaped. The QE technician is expected to identify the root cause of the defect, how the defect escaped detection and what actions can be taken to reduce the likelihood of future recurrence. QE Technicians are the “doers” often tasked with completing projects.

Summary:
Supports quality systems and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and customer requirements. Performs audits as needed for all applicable business units. Works closely with Manufacturing Operations & Engineering personnel to provide feedback on process control results, equipment performance, product quality issues, and any other pertinent information related to the production environment. Responsible for providing technical assistance in troubleshooting manufacturing processes and maintaining quality standards. Assists in training of QC Inspectors and Manufacturing personnel. Provides input to management regarding overall plant quality and manufacturing efficiency.  Perform inspections as necessary (incoming materials, in-process, finished goods). Communicates nonconformance issues identified during inspection to appropriate personnel. Participates in internal investigations and/or external regulatory agency inspections.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of quality data including all required documentation such as CAPA’s, deviations, corrective actions, change controls, etc.

  • Work effectively with the Leadership Team to resolve quality issues that impact production schedules or product specifications.

  • Train new inspectors as needed.

  • Perform audits on the Quality Management System at regular intervals to assess its effectiveness.

  • Sampling and inspection of materials on hold due to product or process nonconformance
  • Root cause analysis investigation and reporting for nonconformances

  • Customer complaint sample and product retain analysis

  • Sample collection and analysis to aid troubleshooting production issues related to component defects

  • Participation in training events to support quality improvements

  • Process improvement activities such as work instruction updates, development of single point lessons and training presentations

  • Apply fundamental scientific principles to develop solutions to complex problems.

  • Interact regularly with customers and sales representatives concerning quality issues.

  • Conduct investigations of nonconformances identified through the inspection process.

  • Train production employees as necessary on sampling methods and inspection techniques.

  • Make recommendations to management regarding quality improvement projects.

  • Participate in cross functional teams focused on improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Follow all safety guidelines and regulations.


Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree preferred.

  • 1-3 years relevant experience.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.

  • Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Ability to problem solve using basic science and engineering principles.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Self motivated to complete tasks assigned.

  • Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing Principles.
