Job Summary:

Provides strategic direction and oversight of all patient access functions across the health system in collaboration with the Adventist Health (AH) senior leadership team. Reports to the Revenue Cycle Executive and is responsible for effectively collaborating and communicating with fellow key leaders across AH. Provides overall leadership for the entire Consumer Financial Experience & Patient Access team. Has direct management responsibility for the following functions across hospital and clinic locations: Referral Management, Scheduling, Registration, Pre-Registration, Patient Estimates and Point-of-Service Collections, Insurance Verification, Pre-authorization Verification, and Financial Counseling.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in healthcare administration, business or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Ten years' related experience: Preferred
  • Seven years' leadership experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Patient Access or Revenue Cycle Industry Certification (CHFP or CHAM): Preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Provides leadership oversight for patient access and experience advancements, system implementations, conversions, and upgrades for revenue cycle applications. Leads the effort to build patient access and revenue cycle literacy across the organization. Builds effective, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across departments to maintain effective performance. Improves operational efficiency and metric performance by leading technology and process improvement initiatives. Develops, maintains, and ensures compliance with standardized policies, processes, programs throughout the organization.
  • Manages annual labor and vendor spend budget and works with leadership team to adhere to it. Identifies and implements opportunities to come in underneath budget. Formulates strategy and drive initiatives critical to cost improvement. Ensures the overall consumer financial experience aligns with and supports business objectives and is focused enterprise-wide to maximize cash collections, decrease the cost to collect, and drive exceptional customer service.
  • Effectively collaborates with IT and project management leaders for the successful planning and execution of patient access-related applications/systems as part of information system transformation projects. Directs and/or oversees analysis of issues to identify developing issues/changes/risks with the potential to impact patient access operations. Collaborates with AH leaders to develop strategies and recommendations to mitigate risk.
  • Provides oversight to ensure required reports are filed on time and meet the highest levels of accuracy, compliance, and effectiveness. Drafts goals, objectives, and budgets for assigned areas, and monitors/ manages to ensure achievement once approved.
  • Organizes and guides meetings to support effective operations, share best practices, and create cross-team collaboration forums. Establishes, fosters, and maintains strong working relationships with Revenue Cycle leaders at the enterprise and market level.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
