Job Summary:

As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for two key areas at Kinetic Advantage: Performing ad hoc financial analysis which requires the ability to evaluate large amounts of data and present findings in a succinct, easily understood manner; and processing dealer applications, completing annual dealer reviews and reviewing documents for assessing the credit risk associated with dealer customers of Kinetic Advantage.
 

The Senior Underwriter possesses an excellent work ethic, exhibits creative thinking, and has demonstrated ability to work independently through self-motivation and direction. In this role, you will be required to analyze complex financial and operational information to assess risk. Strong ability to effectively communicate and support your risk assessment is a requirement.
 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Recommend credit decisions on loans more than $750,000 in accordance with company policies and business practices
  • Perform analysis of, and spread customer financial statements, balance sheets and cash flow information to understand the financial strength of each commercial customer and project trends regarding their business
  • Perform analysis to understand customer’s cash flow and current and projected cash position
  • Document and analyze customer’s current debt needs, capacity, and obligations
  • Review business bank statements to confirm positive cash flow and business transactions such as floorplan curtailments and payoffs, finance company deposits, and other typical business transactions
  • Draft and present comprehensive summaries of the customer’s financial health and projected future performance
  • Evaluate borrower performance based on internal measurements and reports to include payment history and audit reconciliation
  • Take actions necessary to secure and process required dealer underwriting documentation
  • Pull, review, and interpret a credit report on both the business and the individual applicants
  • Examine credit history, nature of accounts, payment history, size of trade lines, credit utilization, in determining credit worthiness of applicant and business
  • Review and understand principals’ personal liquidity, leverage, debt-to-income ratio, and asset verification including relationship to borrowers’ financials
  • Illustrate the key characteristics of a personal tax return as it relates to the loan  request 
  • Research and analyze UCC to determine priority and nature of each filing and effect on loan package
  • Ensure underwriting processing timelines are in accordance with internal service level agreements
  • Pull and review OFAC checks for the business and any/all officers and signers for the business
  • Make calls to business references to conduct background check on the dealership
  • Research any relevant bankruptcy records, tax liens, and/or judgments in weighing applicants’ business or personal ability and      willingness to remain compliant as a Kinetic dealer
  • Research dealer inventory to assess the suitability for Kinetic’s lending programs
  • Validate the business applying and who the accurate “legal”  owners are through documentation provided and/or public record search
  • Review field summary comments provided with business background and sales volume status.
  • Perform on-going dealer analysis to determine dealer portfolio performance trends and act pro-actively on situations that may      indicate increased risk to Kinetic
  • Perform dealer reviews on a schedule to re-underwrite the dealer relationship
  • Verify all Kinetic Advantage documentation and agreements remain up to date
  • Update company tracking systems on the status of dealer documentation and performance
  • Report the status of dealer applications, underwriting and dealer performance in a timely manner
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Kinetic Advantage policies and procedures
  • Prepare ad hoc financial analysis
  • Present financial analysis in a manner that is easily understood by the user

 
 

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Familiarity with concepts, procedures and processes typically used in automotive and financial services industries
  • Understanding of how to interpret personal Credit Bureau reports, including Bankruptcy, Tax Liens, and Judgments or any other public record
  • Familiarity with business documentation including but not limited to sole proprietorships, S-corps, C-corps, partnerships, and limited liability corporations is preferred
  • Familiarity with Dealership licensing requirements throughout the United States
  • Telephone, keyboard, standard office equipment, windows-based computer system
  • Prior work experience in Auto or Financial
