About the role

IMEG is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join our Electrical team in Rock Island, Illinois. In this role, you will lead design efforts and collaborate with senior staff to deliver innovative electrical engineering solutions for building projects. You’ll work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, overseeing engineering analysis, design, and implementation of electrical systems while ensuring projects meet IMEG standards and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems per codes and IMEG standards; perform calculations and specifications using engineering tools.
  • Manage projects including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and documentation to ensure timely delivery.
  • Engage clients to gather requirements, communicate technical details, and maintain relationships.
  • Review designs for quality and compliance; implement IMEG standards and safety practices.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions and resolve engineering challenges.
  • Monitor progress and risks; support bidding and construction administration phases.
  • Stay current on industry trends and contribute to innovation initiatives.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings.
  • Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; energy code compliance and software such as ComCheck; Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards.
  • Proficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, Building Information Model software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools; Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Locations available: Rock Island, IL

State of Illinois Salary Range: $92,000-$123,000
Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
