Job Summary
Provides the strategic and operational oversite of corporate services that support enterprise-wide facility operations, to include hospital campuses, ambulatory clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and other facilities throughout the enterprise. Conducts extensive research, data collection, evaluation, and analysis to drive continuous improvement. Strong leadership qualities, communication, and listening skills will enable efficiencies and innovation to ensure Advocate Health is at the cutting edge of facilities management.
Essential Functions
- Directs and oversees the planning, operation, and direction of the facilities corporate service(s) team to ensure success and effective operations.
- Direct oversight and responsibilities for the computerized maintenance management systems across the enterprise.
- Establishes maintenance management practices including aspects of reliability centered maintenance strategies to extend the useful life of equipment and systems, to reduce service interruptions (uptime) and the meeting of code requirements.
Specific responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:
- Analyzes, forecasts and displays data depicting resource utilization and incorporates results into maintenance practice models for further review with the facilities leaders.
- Recommends equipment and operational maintenance practices to maximize operating efficiency. Analysis of equipment condition assessments for the replacement capital equipment/systems via life cycle costing analysis.
- Provides leadership support to facilities leaders and site managers to develop a consistent utility management program. Provides appropriate training and support to ensure top tier knowledge by site personnel with the use and operation of the maintenance program.
- Collaborates with facilities leaders and project management to ensure inventory accuracy with new and retired equipment so the systems are up to date and accurate.
- Provides ongoing support to the site facility directors, managers, and safety teams with maintenance practices in support of regulatory requirements.
- Develops and supports the use of as-built building drawings embedded into the maintenance platforms to assist/streamline maintenance operations.
Training Management
- Provides leadership that supports a facilities training program that develops teammate growth and maintains consistency of training and skill sets to support a highly expertise work force.
- Designs and directs the work of the functional area. Selects, coaches, and develops the team, setting objectives that align with company strategy to inspire and motivate the team. Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning, and development. Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered, and performance is systematically improved.
- Develops and/or recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
Physical Requirements
- This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Exposed to a normal office environments well as hospital / site conditions when observing work / rounding.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Ten (10) years minimum work experience in facilities functions. Includes minimum of five (5) years in a leadership role, preferably in healthcare environment. Industry certifications and/or license specific to area of responsibility may be required.
