Under the direction of the manager, this position provides management support for the Recon Settlement and Control Unit (RSCU) and provides supervisory guidance to the staff. Ensures all servicing functions of RSCU are performed within the department’s guidelines, plans, assigns and monitors workflow; must maintain a working knowledge of all operations within the department. Provides follow-up on inquires and continued support to branches/departments.
- Leads, directs, and oversees staff. Assists with management, time keeping of all employees in the area, scheduling, staffing, compensation recommendations, performance management, training and development. Motivates the team to achieve the department’s business objectives while maintaining favorable employee relations. Responsible for the timely and effective processing of Human Resource forms/documents relevant to the immediate staff. Assists the manager in establishing goals for the unit. Assists in the preparation and delivery of performance reviews. Ensures processes are in compliance with all applicable operational processes. Maintains a current working knowledge of the functions within the department. Must be able to work flex hours including weekends.
- Reviews, monitors and evaluates work for accuracy and performance levels. Maintains quality control of work; trains and develops staff in all areas of the unit. Provides staff with resources and tools to be successful. Confirms that department schedules/deadlines are met, by reviewing work priorities and/or establishing work priorities. Ensures that internal clients’ service level agreements are met.
- Works closely with the manager to obtain maximum department productivity and effectiveness. Reviews and implements changes to improve efficiency of departmental operations to accommodate departmental goals. Exercises signing authority as required within the unit. Identifies problems, analyzes situations and exercises authority. Manages settlement of all routine/non-routine internal/external requests.
- Effectively communicates verbally and in writing with peers, branch, and department personnel and with customers. Receives, researches, resolves and responds to requests from branches, departments, financial institutions and Bank of Hawaii customers.
- Assists RSCU Manager in implementing process improvements, and special projects. Provides cost centers with up-to-date information on modified internal procedures.
- Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or related area from an accredited institution, or equivalent work/subject matter experience.
- Minimum 4 years of general accounting and reconciliation experience. General ledger experience is preferred. Minimum 2 year of Team Lead or supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. analytical, detail oriented, organized with independent decision making skills. Must be able to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. Ability to build strong working relationships and partnerships across organization with a collaborative and consultative approach. Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and assignments with varying deadlines. Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned. Must be able to push/lift 30 lbs., duties may require the use of a step stool and bending/stretching for filing and retrieving folders.
