What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will perform independent research projects on the molecular mechanism of key membrane proteins involved in inflammatory and rare diseases as part of a highly motivated team of immunologists, structural biologists and critical thinkers. This is a unique opportunity to be part of Amgen’s R&D Postdoc Program in Inflammation Discovery Research located at the research site in South San Francisco, California. The postdoc will join the labs of Dr. Fei Li (Senior Scientist, structural biology) and Dr. Zhifei Shao (Principal Scientist, inflammation Research), in the department led by Dr. Mark Wilson (Executive director, inflammation Research) and Dr. Menno Van Lookeren Campagne (VP, Inflammation Research), amongst other leading scientists in the fields of immunology and structural biology.
We are hiring a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to perform independent research projects on the molecular mechanism of key membrane proteins involved in inflammatory and rare diseases as part of a highly motivated team of immunologists, structural biologists and critical thinkers.
The positions are for 2-4 years depending on time to complete projects. Successful candidates will have access to Amgen’s cutting-edge technologies and innovation and be expected to make exciting scientific contributions to the field, present at scientific conferences and publish their work. Postdocs will be a part of the broader R&D Postdoc Program that focuses on training the next generation of industry scientists. An overwhelming majority of our postdocs go on to advance their careers in industry at leading pharma and biotech companies, including many at Amgen.
We are looking for highly talented, self-motivated individuals passionate about science and making high impact discoveries to work on molecular pathways in inflammatory diseases and rare diseases. A major focus will be on the structure and function of key membrane proteins involved in lysosomal biology. New postdoctoral fellows will take a multi-disciplinary approach combining structural biology, biochemistry (~50%) and cell biology, molecular biology (~50%) to carry out these studies.
