OVERVIEW

Skillsoft is currently looking to hire a fulltime, permanent, Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to join our growing team. Azure Cloud Engineers take the Azure Cloud Architect’s vision and turn it into a reality. Azure Cloud Engineers work closely with the Azure Cloud Architects and the Cloud Operations team to deliver end-to-end operating environments to our customers. 

 

Skillsoft is actively seeking a full-time, permanent Senior CI/CD Engineer to enrich our talented team. The Senior CI/CD Engineer will work intimately with both the Cloud and Data Engineers and the Operations team to deliver robust, end-to-end operating environments using GitHub Actions.

 

 

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the implementation, enhancement, deployment, and management of enterprise platforms, leveraging a comprehensive range of Azure services. This senior position requires a strong background in cloud engineering, with significant expertise in bridging on-premises and cloud-native solutions. The successful applicant will be instrumental in the seamless integration of these solutions into customer environments, operating within a hybrid platform.

 

 

OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS

• Design, develop, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Work closely with development teams to integrate their code into the pipeline in a safe and compliant manner, ensuring continuous integration and deployment.
• Configure and manage code repositories, branching strategies, and pull request workflows in GitHub.
• Implement automated testing frameworks into the CI/CD process to ensure code quality and system stability.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise CI/CD pipelines for performance improvements.
• Deploy and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Bicep, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates or Azure CLI.
• Ensure security best practices are followed throughout the development and deployment process.
• Document CI/CD processes, create detailed build and release notes, and maintain version control.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, and operations, to ensure seamless and efficient software delivery.
• Continually evaluate emerging technologies and tools to improve the CI/CD pipeline and development workflow.
• Apply a consistently positive, problem-solving attitude and demonstrate a curious mindset.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
• Support the development of operational excellence via process, technology, and people development.

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering, or at least 8+ years of experience in a similar position within the IT industry.
• 5+ years of progressive implementation experience in implementation and management of distributed applications and infrastructure.
• 5+ years of experience in leveraging Azure in enterprise environments utilizing security, compute, network, storage, API management, databases, backup, automation, monitoring, as well as other Azure IaaS and PaaS services and capabilities.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Bicep, Azure ARM templates.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) using GitHub and GitHub Actions is preferred.
• Configuration management using Ansible and PowerShell DSC.
• Proficient in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash to automate common tasks.
• Familiarity with container orchestration services, i.e., Kubernetes.
• Problem-solving and analytical abilities including the ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details and apply sound business knowledge.
