Senior Lead Counsel 1 - Product

Citibank, N.A. seeks a Senior Lead Counsel 1 – Product for its Tampa, FL location.

Duties: Provide legal support, advice, and guidance to the Citi Services Treasury and Trade Solutions (Payments – Commercial Cards) business. Provide legal support to Commercial Cards business’ product areas, including new product development initiatives, at both the global and U.S. country level. Interact with stakeholders across Citi’s global network, including product managers, risk, and compliance functions, and counsel around the world. Leverage knowledge of the credit card industry in the U.S. and globally, including the legal and regulatory requirements that attach to Citi’s card offerings in various jurisdictions, and liaise with local lawyers in multiple jurisdictions. Work and engage with both corporate and public sector clients. Support contractual negotiations and legal disputes when issues arise and/or when new clients are onboarded. Participate in senior-level discussions for product expansions and advise on privacy, data security, IP, e-commerce, FinTech, and regulatory matters. Represent Citi in a wide variety of legal and contractual matters related to the offering of commercial cards to corporates. Participate and act as legal point-of-contact in various internal forums. A telecommuting/hybrid work schedule may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite in accordance with Citi policies and protocols.

Requirements: J.D., LL.M., or foreign equivalent, and six (6) years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation drafting and reviewing legal documents within the financial services industry. Six (6) years of experience must include: Drafting and reviewing contracts, legal documents, and legal communications; Conducting negotiations for contractual and legal disputes; Complying with the laws and regulations applicable to Payments and Commercial Cards; Working with Card Networks and associated rules, systems, and tools used by issuers who provide Commercial Cards and Payment Processors and Faciliators; Analyzing complex legal issues across multiple legal and regulatory jurisdictions; and Participating in internal risk and review processes and forums. 40 hrs./wk.
