Head of Risk Management - Digital Assets

WisdomTree is seeking a Head of Risk Management for a promising and exciting opportunity within the Digital Assets team.
The Head of Risk Management will provide leadership in the planning, development and implementation of the risk management strategy and framework specific to the needs of the digital asset and blockchain-enabled business lines, including the mobile application, WisdomTree Prime™, new products and services and as the business evolves beyond the United States.
The role will develop and evolve the risk management framework and reporting consistent with NY DFS and OCC guidance (including risk modeling for various capital scenarios), expectations and regulatory best practices; evaluate new U.S. supervisory requirements and create risk governance frameworks; evaluate current and emerging risk threats; evolve and oversee the risk management function and control environment to align business strategy to regulatory frameworks; and establish an approach for risk reporting and launch reporting processes to drive accountability, timely resolution, and key factors for decision-making within the applicable risk appetite. The role will oversee the vendor management program and ensure programmatic review of critical vendors, including identifying risk areas related to the use of, and agreements with, third-party vendors.
In this role, the person will lead risk management, including WisdomTree Digital Movement, Inc., a U.S. stated licensed money transmitter, and WisdomTree Digital Trust Company, LLC, a limited purpose trust company expected to be licensed by the NY DFS, concerning WisdomTree’s digital assets, digital wallet and blockchain-related activities, including for retail-facing products and services.

Success in this role would be observed by:

• Owning and reinforcing a strong culture focused on risk identification and management, setting the tone from the leadership level, including at management meetings, for WisdomTree executive leadership and at Board meetings
• Tailoring risk management strategy and framework to the unique needs of the digital asset/blockchain-enabled business
• Driving risk determination and ownership through regular reviews and reporting
• Collaborating with department heads to detect, manage and mitigate risks across functional lines
• Performing risk assessments, proactively identifying emerging risks, and implementing mitigation programs

Experience and Required skill set:

• Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university; master's degree preferred.
• At least ten (10) years of professional experience in U.S. risk management, specialized knowledge in supporting retail-facing U.S. money transmitters, trust companies and/or banks.
• Prior close working relationship and specific experience with NY DFS or other federal or state U.S. banking or similar U.S. regulators, including state regulators overseeing money transmitters.
• Proven experience directing and leading the implementation of key risk management initiatives, including the ability to lead in-person meetings in New York, whether for exams, new product meetings and/or other regulatory check-ins.
• Understanding of digital assets, related regulatory environment and risk management considerations.
• Outstanding ability to interact positively with colleagues across the firm.
