Job Description

The Lead Cabinet Maker & Installer reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The job of Lead Cabinet Maker & Installer was established for the purpose/s of designing, building, repairing, and installing wood-built items; identifying repair and/or replacement needs; assisting other skilled trades; completing construction projects safety and within established budget and time constraints; providing necessary information on the proper uses of the equipment; and ensuring adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner.  This position reports directly to the Directors of Support Services across the Health System.

Responsibilities:

• Builds a variety of wood constructed items (e.g. counter tops, cabinets, shelving, moldings, partitions, etc.) for the Health System and/or modifying and/or adapting facilities to specific needs.
• Produce or assemble components of articles, such as facility fixtures, office equipment, cabinets, or high-grade furniture
• Measure and mark dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock prior to cutting, following blueprints, to ensure a tight fit and quality product.
• Coordinates with Support Services Director and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
• Designs special requests items (e.g. cabinets, shelving, bookcases, work counters, etc.) for the purpose of meeting a variety of maintenance and facility needs.
• Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing necessary information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with health and safety regulations.
• Inspects interior/exterior facilities for the purpose of ensuring safety and identifying necessary repairs and providing an ongoing program of preventive maintenance.
• Installs a variety of wood-built items (e.g. partitions, tables, cabinets, counters, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition.
• Maintains tools, equipment, and/or minor vehicle maintenance for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items in safe operating condition.
• Completes and logs time in computerized work order system
• Repairs a variety of items (e.g. furniture, cabinets, tables, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.
• Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items to complete the necessary installation/repair.
• Transports a variety of items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, materials, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
• Provides input for equipment and major purchase decisions, maintains inventory and purchase of supplies.
• Travels between and services all sites within the region.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma – Required
• 10 years Cabinet making experience – Required
• Valid driver’s license
• Working knowledge of Microsoft computer applications used for data, work records and email. (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
• Ability to read and comprehend complicated blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications, codes, and handbooks.
• Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and prioritize work as required.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to function as a team member in a demanding service environment.
• Ability to communicate with customers at all levels of the organization in a professional, effective manner.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
