About The Role
The Director of Market Sales is a leadership role responsible for the end-to-end performance of Homeward’s Market Sales function. This role provides strategic and operational leadership across the disposition lifecycle, ensuring inventory is priced, marketed, negotiated, and sold efficiently while protecting both margin and partner experience.
This leader will oversee two Team Leaders who manage the frontline Market Sales team. The Director will set direction, coach and develop leaders, drive operational alignment across cross-functional partners, manage key disposition and external partnerships, and serve as the primary escalation point for complex or high-impact issues.
The Director of Market Sales works closely with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure market strategy, operational execution, and company objectives are tightly aligned.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach, and develop two Market Sales Team Leaders, ensuring strong people leadership, clear expectations, and consistent execution across teams.
- Set vision and priorities for the Market Sales function, translating company goals into clear operating rhythms, team goals, and performance standards.
- Host and facilitate team leader meetings and broader team forums to ensure alignment, accountability, and information flow.
- Partner with HR and senior leadership on hiring, onboarding, performance management, succession planning, and top-grading across the Market Sales organization.
Strategy, Operations & Disposition Performance
- Own the execution of disposition strategy, balancing speed of sale, margin protection, and partner experience across markets.
- Monitor market trends, sales velocity, pricing performance, and pipeline health; proactively adjust strategy as conditions change.
- Identify inventory at risk (timeline, pricing, margin, or partner experience) and partner with General Managers and cross-functional teams to course-correct.
- Drive continuous improvement of Market Sales processes, tools, and operating standards.
Cross-Functional & External Partnership Leadership
- Serve as the primary liaison between Market Sales and internal partners including Sales, General Managers, Repairs, Finance, and Transaction Management to ensure operational alignment.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts to resolve escalations, remove blockers, and improve end-to-end outcomes.
- Manage and strengthen key disposition partnerships, including ongoing performance management, issue resolution, and relationship health.
- Represent Market Sales in cross-functional forums and leadership discussions related to inventory performance and partner experience.
Escalations, Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex, sensitive, or high-impact Market Sales issues.
- Ensure clear, professional, and timely communication with internal stakeholders and external partners during escalations.
- Maintain high standards for agent and partner experience throughout the disposition process.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Own Market Sales performance reporting, including pipeline health, pricing trends, days on market, margin outcomes, and escalation themes.
- Develop and maintain KPI frameworks to measure team, leader, and functional performance.
- Provide regular, actionable updates to senior leadership with insights, risks, and recommendations.
