The SR. Backend Engineer (Java) role is a critical component of our development team.

 

What You Will Do: 

• Deliver high-quality software on time
• Be a Senior Java engineer in terms of "hands on" contributor and a driving force of excellence amongst all of our Java Developers
• Lead with your technical expertise to integrate our applications with all required systems and services and provide clean and easy to use API's 
• Lead the design and development of the business logic and backend systems within the product domain to power our sports book and iGaming products 
• Lead and drive technical software development solutions through collaboration with the other engineers, architects and product managers to deliver market leading products in an agile software development environment
• Collaboration with functional developers while exploring the benefits with the software development engineering teams in new developments 
• Consider Non-functional requirements at the heart of the platform solutions to deliver high performance, fault tolerant software solutions to our 24/7 sports betting and iGaming business 
• Mentorship of mid-level Engineers to assist them in their craft development 
• Empower and inspire peers to collaborate with other software development engineers, product managers, designers, stakeholders, and leaders to deliver market dominating products that are easy to use and customers love

What You Will Need: 

• 6-9 years of progressive experience as a software engineer, preferably within a high growth product tech environment 
• Extensive highly competent engineering experience in Java and Spring Framework (Springboot, specifically) 
• Extensive engineering experience utilizing AWS (Amazon Web Services) 
• Extensive engineering experience in Building and maintaining APIs
• Experience in designing software architecture 
• Experience with OLTP systems is an asset 
• Experience with Kafka and NRT messaging platforms 
• Ability to train, mentor, and lead junior and mid-level engineers 
• Expertise in Agile software product delivery
• Strong delivery mind-set with the ability to work across multiple teams 
• Self-Starter who can take ownership of their work in a fast-paced environment 
• Proven ability to engage with engineers, data scientists, internal customers, and company leaders in a constructive and collaborative way
• Enjoy learning new skills and are passionate about new developments in technology
