MSDAbout the role
Job Description
The Screening & Compound Profiling group at our Research Laboratories site in Rahway, NJ is looking for a highly motivated, talented and innovative Senior Scientist with a strong background in the development of cellular assays to support phenotypic and target-based small molecule screens, high-content imaging and functional genomic screening, with the goal of identifying novel targets and molecules to drive our drug discovery pipeline across multiple therapeutic areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, plan and execute robust scientific research activities utilizing cell-based assays ‘at-scale’ to accelerate lead discovery in the identification of molecules and targets via small molecule and CRISPR screens
Develop arrayed CRISPR screening applications in cell lines as well as complex disease-relevant models (primary cells, co-cultures, 3D culture)
Focus on high throughput (HT)-complex cell models (3D, iPSC, co-culture systems) to enable the development of ‘assays at scale’
Represent Screening & Compound Profiling on cross-functional project teams influencing strategic direction with data/progress updates & insight
Contribute to a high-performance culture of inclusion, collaboration, engagement and self-accountability
Education:
PhD with 0-3 years of experience, Master's Degree with 3-6 years of experience or a Bachelor's Degree with >10 years of experience in assay development and high throughput screening, with the ability to succeed in a collaborative, highly matrixed environment
Required Skills & Experience:
Some combination of the below skills
Hands-on experience in the areas of cellular assay development with proficiency in high-content screening and image analysis using primary cultures and cell lines
Experience in development, execution and analysis of arrayed CRISPR screens
Extensive development and miniaturization of cell-based assays (384w/ 1536w) using liquid handlers and detectors to support small molecule profiling.
Demonstrated ability to work under tight timelines and independently execute experimental tasks.
Guidance of scientific operations, strategy, and communication with a track record of collaboration on multidisciplinary teams in one or more therapeutic area(s).
Passion for fostering a diverse and inclusive culture and contributing to the growth and success of colleagues.
