We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Atlanta, Georgia office as a Senior Transit Planner. The selected candidate will have significant familiarity with FTA grants, environmental documentation, and overseeing projects from initial planning through design and execution. As the project manager, you will oversee county transit capital projects and facilities, and lead planning and design efforts for various Bus Rapid Transit, Transit Centers and MicroTransit projects.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with regional and local clients.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects of diverse scopes and complexities, including Bus Transfer Facilities, Bus Rapid Transit and MicroTransit projects, and Alternative Analysis for circulator systems.
  • Lead the planning and development of project deliverables ensuring high quality.
  • Collaborate directly with clients to deliver excellent service.
  • Develop and oversee project budgets and meet contractual requirements.
  • Perform technical analyses and compile project reports.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning or related field. Master's or graduate level technical coursework preferred. This level may be achieved by Planners with seven years’ experience since bachelor’s or six years since Master's. Typical incumbent has 10 years' experience.
  • Proven technical writing and communications skills. May be eligible for project management training.
  • AICP Certification desired.
  • 10+ years’ experience in transportation/transit planning - Technical background and expertise in transit and/or transportation planning.
  • Experience with FTA processes and compliance, FTA grants, environmental documentation
  • Experience with planning/programming of Transit facilities preferred.
  • Potential to serve as Project manager once projects proceed to PE.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience with State and local transportation agencies, and their standards, policies and practices are preferred.
  • Experience in Preliminary Engineering and NEPA work for High-Capacity Transit (HCT) projects.
  • Experience with applying technical excellence in transit and transportation planning, particularly FTA, FRA, and USDOT project development and funding processes for projects.
  • Project management or Senior Task Lead experience on transit and multi-modal transportation studies and projects; professional experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Working knowledge and project leadership on early project development phase for transit projects including general transit planning, alternatives analysis, capital investment grant program and federal funding, conceptual engineering, and environmental planning processes.
