Job Description

The Frankfurt/Main plant is one of the global sites for Sirtex Medical. The position of the Production Engineer ensures consistent, safe and efficient product realization activities at the Frankfurt site. The position requires a detail oriented individual capable of working independently in a clean room facility while meeting the demands of production timelines and commitments. The Production Engineer supports all aspects of maintenance, calibration, tests, and repairing of all electrical and electronical devices, equipment and installations as well as validation of processes used for the manufacturing, labelling, packaging, delivering and quality control of radioactive medical devices at Sirtex Germany Manufacturing GmbH, Frankfurt/Main.

Furthermore, the Production Engineer supports the Production Technicians in their activities and is willing and able to fill in as a Production Technician if needed to produce the radioactive medical device of Sirtex Medical.

This position is responsible for and has authority to:

  • Performing qualifications, tests, calibrations, maintenance, and repairs of devices, equipment and installations at the Frankfurt/Main site.
  • Performing creation, dispensing, sterilization, packaging and shipping tasks for the company’s products following detailed process steps without deviation in order to assure a uniform output.
  • Programming of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for troubleshooting with interfaces to individual devices as well as with interfaces between different devices.
  • Selecting, creating and issuing proper production documentation including batch records, product labels and work orders.
  • Safely handling radioactive materials, waste and product per company training procedures and policy.
  • Work with business management software or enterprise resource planning software (like SAP).
  • Adhere to practices designed to protect both employees and product from contact with radioactivity and potential contamination, including wearing of clean room uniforms.
  • Be flexible and work within a small team without strictly defined roles in order to assure complete functional coverage.
  • Support the maintenance, troubleshooting and/or rebuilding of fixturing, equipment and devices used throughout the production process or quality control.
  • Work with radioactive material and ensure/promote security, with the knowledge that all equipment, processes and systems designed for the facility have been done so to guarantee a safe and productive environment.

All safety or background screenings by governmental authorities must be completed and an examination of the state of health in accordance to German Radiation Safety Ordinance has to be passed during the first six month of employment.

Qualifications

    • Very good command of the German and good command of the English language (oral and written).
    • The minimum educational requirement is a technical vocational school certificate for electronics (up to 400V) or a technical college degree in an engineering or science related field.
    • Previous experience in working in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry or in another highly regulated environment.
    • Experience in working with radioactive material and radiation would be desirable.
