Position Summary

Under direct supervision, processes payments, researches accounts and performs data entry and other related billing activities

Job Responsibilities

• Composes and maintains billing and/or billing compliance associated correspondence. Determines proper account resolution and/or adjustment as needed.
• Performs charge entry and/or payment posting within the practice management billing system as needed. Tracks and resolves issues on denied claims. Resubmits or appeals claims as required. Escalates more complex claim issues when necessary.
• Obtains, reviews and updates patient demographic and insurance information within the practice management billing system.
• Scans all relevant documentation into patients’ eMR record.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

• High school diploma or GED

Experience

Approximately 1 year of physician billing, accounts receivable or collection experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
• Demonstrated knowledge of third party reimbursement.
