General Statement of Job
The Advancement Database and Prospect Research Director will manage the operation, function and organization of the constituent database housed in the Office of Development and serving functions related to development, alumni relations and Foundation activities. In addition, this position will conduct constituent research, categorize donor prospects and assist development directors and alumni personnel with prospect identification and pipeline management.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the processes whereby constituent data is entered and maintained in Raiser’s Edge constituent database.
- Utilize services in timely manners to maintain and add information to the database including Import-O-Matic for graduation rolls, EmailFinder, PhoneFinder, AddressFinder, wealth screens, etc.
- Respond to requests from campus departments and divisions for Advancement-related data lists including Crossroads Magazine mailing, deceased lists, prospect lists, etc.
- Periodically audit Raiser’s Edge Advancement records to ensure data integrity, maintaining an exemplary Raiser’s Edge data scorecard grade.
- Provide development staff with constituent reports when requested using database queries and exports.
- Assist in development and maintenance of a policy and procedures manual for Raiser’s Edge database use.
- Participate in regular prospect management meetings with development directors. In these meetings, this position will assist in the maximizing of development directors’ effectiveness by conducting constituent research, presenting new prospects, analyzing where constituents are in the solicitation process and alerting development directors to constituents who need moves management.
- Supervise student workers on related tasks.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of industry best practices by attending professional development opportunities, viewing related online materials, etc.
- Other duties as assigned including but not limited the training of Development Assistant – Gift Processing position.
Education, Experience, and Licenses
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university required.
Two years relevant work experience in database administration in a nonprofit, marketing, or fundraising environment preferred.
A good working knowledge of accounting and business practices is preferred.
Employment experience in higher education and/or development setting preferred.
