Job Summary
Responsibilities
Designs and executes research projects and experiments.
Oversees specimen husbandry, including maintaining Drosophila melanogaster and Danio rerio stocks, and oversees genetic crosses.
Presents research findings at staff meetings.
Assists with data management and data processing pipelines involving high performance computing.
Develops computer code, uses analysis software for analysis.
Operates and oversees advanced microscopes.
Serves as a resource for collecting data and performing analysis. Facilitates and promotes a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information.
Develops laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage, analyze and make recommendations on complex data sets for research.
Creates first drafts for scientific writing and publications, including protocols and grants.
Trains and mentors laboratory personnel.
Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience:
Experience with Drosophila melanogaster genetics.
Experience with animal husbandry.
Experience in developing and evaluating new experimental methods.
Knowledge of standard research techniques relevant to developmental biology, microscopy, and computational data analysis.
Skill with confocal and light-sheet microscopy.
Knowledge of coding in MATLAB or python.
Experience using ImageJ for image analysis.
Quantitative reasoning and proficiency with mathematics.
Ability to perform manipulations of embryos.

Working Conditions
Lab Environment.
