Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based program, designed by a specially trained physical therapist, to improve balance and reduce dizziness-related problems. The therapist will identify any problems with balance, gait (how you walk), neck motion and visual stability, as well as examine other potential problem areas. Based on the findings, the physical therapist will develop a plan of care designed to help reduce your risk of falling and improve your daily functioning abilities.
A caregiver in this position works part time, 24 hours per week.
24 hours: 3 8’s – variable M, T, Th - 10 or 8’s are an option, hours are 10:30 – 7pm (8’s) or start as early as 7am – 3:30pm, flexible
A caregiver who excels in this role, will:
Evaluate and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.
Perform initial and on-going assessments of patient's condition.
Establish, revise and evaluate a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires.
Perform therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
Supervise activities of physical therapy assistants, students and other support personnel.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
Bachelor's Degree or certificate
Graduate of a Physical Therapy Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association
Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
Experience in Vestibular preferred.
Open to new grads with Vestibular interest.
