About the role

Job Summary: 

The Practice Group Director (PGD) will provide leadership and management for the Real Estate Group across all applicable markets. The Practice Group Director will manage the business and operational aspects of the Real Estate practice group to promote growth, profitability and efficiency. The PGD must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive materials and maintain strict confidentiality due to the nature of the position.

New York salary in the range of $200,000 to $280,000 dependent on experience level. 

Essential Job Duties: 

•Manage the operational needs of the Real Estate practice group

•Manage the relationship with administrative department liaisons to achieve practice group goals

•Assist in the development of practice group business plans, working closely with the Practice Group Leader(s) and CLO

•Develop annual practice group budgets and track adherence to established budgets

•Develop and assist with associate development and training 

•Work with the practice group to develop more efficient work processes for achieving client needs

•Work with Practice Group Leader(s) and CLO in developing longer term strategic direction of the group, including initiatives in hiring, professional development, technology, pricing, and business development

•Work with the practice group to put operational changes in place in accordance with the group’s overall approved business plan


Minimum Requirements:

•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field required

•15 years working in a business capacity, with 5 years of experience in a law firm

•Strong understanding of law firm structure and fee options 

•Strong leadership, analytical, and problem solving skills

•Ability to travel when necessary

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•Ability to juggle multiple priorities and manage multiple responsibilities
