Position Overview: Director of Product Design leading our design team, creating and elevating the user experience of products. As a key member of our leadership team, you will define and execute the design strategy, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring our products are intuitive, engaging, and aligned with our business goals. You will drive the design process from concept to launch, and mentor strong and skilled designers.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and articulate a clear product design vision and strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives.

Partner with product management, engineering, and marketing teams to define product roadmaps and ensure design is integrated into the product development lifecycle.

Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to inform design strategy and innovation.

Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of UX/UI designers

Define clear performance expectations, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional development of team members.

Manage team resources and prioritize projects to ensure efficient and effective delivery.

Ensure the consistent application of design standards and brand guidelines across all products.

Champion user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and identify areas for improvement.

Drive the creation design specifications for development teams.

Collaborate with engineers to ensure seamless implementation of designs.

Ensure that designs comply with accessibility standards.

Develop a deep understanding of the fintech industry, including regulatory requirements, security considerations, and user needs.

Apply knowledge of financial products and services to create intuitive and engaging user experiences.

Understand and incorporate data visualization best practices for financial data.

Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization, including product managers, engineers, marketers, and executives.

Communicate design concepts and rationale effectively to diverse audiences.

Present design strategies and results to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Design or equivalent work experience

8+ years of experience in product design, with a focus on UX/UI design.

5+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing and mentoring design teams.

Proven experience developing design systems, and evangelizing the benefits of said systems to the business.

Proven successful product designs in the fintech industry or a related field.

Strong portfolio showcasing design process, problem-solving skills, and visual design abilities.

Expertise in user research methodologies, usability testing, and interaction design principles.

Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Experience with data-driven design and analytics and knowledge of best practices

Experience in designing for mobile and web platforms.

Experience working in a startup environment preferred.
