Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Lead Bridge Design Engineer for employment in the Tampa, FL office. This career-enhancing position will involve performing transportation structure design analysis, including plan preparation of complex structures in the Southeast as well as exposure to and contributing to project work throughout the U.S.

This important role offers participation in a variety of challenging projects such as long-span structures and a dynamic work environment due to the number, type, and size of bridges that make up the vast portfolio of the experienced bridge group this engineer will be joining.

  •  Local expert on providing technical leadership in a specialty area, often for a district. 
  • Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs and applications. 
  • Interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates assignments. 
  • Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work. 
  • Applies advanced or state-of-the-art knowledge and experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually results from progressive experience. 
  • Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred:

  • 20 years' experience in bridge design
  • Master's degree in structural engineering
  • A current PE license in the State of Florida
  • Knowledgeable of AASHTO/FDOT standard engineering practices, techniques, and applicable codes
  • Experience in project management skills
  • Experience with presentations and writing skills, including technical report writing
  • Experience in structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools and software)
  • Experience with other standard engineering practices, techniques, and applicable Codes
  • Experience withof current structural modeling software tools such as Midas
