Project Description:
Influenza viruses exist as a population of variants that each contribute to the overall virus phenotype. Understanding the way these virus populations change over time and under different selective pressures is an important step in deciphering viral evolution. Using sequence information from influenza infected ferrets and humans the successful candidate will characterize viral subpopulations and explore their biologic consequences.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop analysis strategies.
- Collaborate with institutional and department experts to develop sequence pipelines.
- Participate in overall laboratory efforts.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
PhD.
Special Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
The successful applicant should have a working knowledge of influenza virology and use of in vivo models. An understanding of methods to monitor sequence SNPs and minor populations would be desirable. An ability to work in a team environment is a must.
