Job Title: Clinical Nursing Instructor
Course: NURS 4L04 – Nursing Foundations: Care of Persons with Chronic Health Concerns - Hospital Inpatient Medical Unit (2 positions)

Term of Appointment: Contracts for this course are 9 consecutive weeks with two 12-hour shifts, 0630-1830 per week
Nominal Hours: 324
Wage Rate: $42-$48.50 per hour*
*The wage rate is determined by seniority as outlined in Article 16 and Appendix B of the CUPE 4207-Unit 4 collective agreement.
Duties:
Reporting to the Chair/Assistant Chair-Clinical, Department of Nursing, the Clinical Nursing Instructor is responsible to:
Prepare for and supervise students in a clinical setting for the experiential component of the course.
Collaborate with the course instructor and lab coordinator to ensure student activities are aligned with the course syllabus and learning objectives.
Prepare patient assignments before students’ arrival on the unit (for hospital placements) carefully considering each student’s experience level and capabilities and course learning objectives.
Review the student’s preparation and plan for their clinical activities with attention and integration of nursing, pathophysiological, pharmacologic, and therapeutic concepts.
Encourage an inquiring, theory, and evidence-based approach to nursing practice.
Facilitate interprofessional and intraprofessional communication among students and all members of the health care team or agency.
Model patient-centered care.
Familiarize students with the relevant policies and protocols in the clinical setting with emphasis on any health & safety requirements.
