Job Overview

We are currently looking for anAssembler II to join our team in Conover.

References production orders, build sheets, or work orders to assemble frames and other large lounge units per engineering specifications. Designs forms for chair clamps. Inspects components and performs minor repairs as necessary, ensuring Haworth quality specifications are met. Works as part of team to build completed frames or accessory items. Trains other members on new product introductions.

Major Responsibilities

  • Assembles guest chairs and/or forms or other lounge units per blueprint specifications.  Utilizes hand and air-powered tools, air- and hand-operated frame clamps, and wood working machinery.
  • Utilizes raw lumber to design forms for chair clamps, coordinating with Model Maker on all forms for assembly, utilizing precision measuring instruments.
  • Frequently loads, unloads, lifts/moves, pulls/pushes, and/or positions products and materials, weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally weighing more (assistance given with heavier objected by work partner[s]), throughout work center.  Assembly operations involve frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, turning, and lifting.
  • Inspects incoming component parts per Haworth quality standards to ensure proper fit and function of all components; corrects or replaces unacceptable parts as necessary.  Determines if damaged product should be scrapped or repaired; creates scrap ticket when necessary.  Ensures paint/product/material has no flaws and is correct color.
  • Monitors material usage and floor stock to ensure accurate inventory; retrieves parts and materials as needed from inventory.  Notifies material handler or department clerk of any floorstock and/or inventory discrepancies.
  • Performs functional and visual inspection of all completed product, ensuring Haworth quality and assembly specifications are met.  If problems are identified, troubleshoots and corrects problems.
  • Receives product that is scratched, dented, chipped, gouges, or broken from various departments; repairs, utilizing knowledge of wood and veneer to create new piece and complete repair.
  • Reworks purchased frames and parts, when necessary, to meet Haworth quality specifications.
  • Trains others on new product introductions, ensuring assembly is complete, accurate, and meets established quality standards.
  • Performs daily maintenance duties, including work center and/or equipment preventative maintenance, to ensure and maintain clean, safe, and well-kept work environment and to continuously improve process uptime.
  • Follows all safety requirements and communicates any safety concerns.
  • Ensures and maintains safety and cleanliness of work area by performing housekeeping duties.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork.
  • Performs all duties as assigned to ensure department and plant meet daily and weekly production requirements.
  • Flexes work schedule as business demands; may work more than eight hours per day and/or forty hours per week, including weekends and/or holidays.
