JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dynamic MS Humanities Departmental Teacher who embodies our mission and is dedicated to working collaboratively with our students and faculty. This is an entry level position for someone who is beginning their teaching career. This individual will cultivate their teaching practice through mentorship with experienced educators and administrators. The role involves designing and implementing interdisciplinary curriculum, with a focus on personalized, inquiry-based learning experiences for students. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative and a commitment to professional growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS:
- Collaborate and co-teach with lead teachers to develop and deliver hands-on, inquiry-based learning units using the Understanding by Design model.
- Enhance and manage the Miami Country Day School Writing Lab.
- Periodically observe or substitute for class teachers to enhance professional expertise.
- Serve as a co-advisor with a lead teacher for a group of 9th-12th graders.
- Fulfill supervisory duties as assigned.
- Cultivate cooperative and effective relationships with colleagues.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Utilize relevant technology for instruction.
- Engage in ongoing professional growth.
- Contribute to our dynamic community through learning and teaching.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Proficiency in computer use for communication and instruction.
- Willingness to attend meetings, in-service training, or other required events.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment with diverse contacts.
- Flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.
- Adaptability to varied weather conditions, including extreme heat.
