BUSINESS CONTEXT:
Ethylene oxide (EO) is an important building block for the preparation of a wide variety of EO derivatives (EODs), including various surfactants, as well as a host of other chemical intermediates including Glycol Ethers, Polyethlene Glycols, Ethanolamines, and Alkyl Alkanolamines.
INEOS Oxide is one of the world’s leading producers of Ethylene Oxide (EO) and Ethylene Oxide Derivatives (EODs). We currently have a total EO and EOD capacity of 920 kta spread across five different production units throughout Europe and the US. These units have leading cost economics, due to economies of scale, state-of-the-art technology, strategic locations, etc. Our EO project in the US is targeting the fast-growing merchant EO market, building on our experience and leadership position in Europe.
Purpose of the Job:
Most Important Internal & External Factors
The Project Controls Specialist will maintain project estimating, scheduling, costs, risk management, and project change requests. Typical project sizes range from $10k - $6MM TIC. Days will include interfacing with Project Managers, outside vendors, purchasing, and accounting.
The candidate is responsible for tracking and reporting project metrics. Supporting the project managers in schedules, cost reports, and purchasing.
Responsibilities AND Accountabilities
Accountability 1:
Cost Management
- Work with Project Managers/Engineers to develop estimates and budgets breakdowns for projects.
- Maintain cost workbooks for projects.
- Enter requestions Project Managers/Engineers
- Input service receipts and process through SAP at the direction of Capital Lead
- Work with Accounts Payable, Receiving, and Accounting to ensure proper receipt and closeout of Purchase Orders
- Maintain forecasts monthly for capital projects.
- Follow up with vendors to maintain invoicing forecasts.
Accountability 2:
Project Schedules
- Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules, ensuring timely and accurate updates
- Track progress relative to baseline schedules and deadlines.
Accountability 3:
Change Management
- Facilitate the engineering and construction change management process with Project Managers/Engineers
Accountability 4:
- Update monthly presentation and data for actual project spend and forecasts
- Update monthly presentation for schedule compliance of projects
- Support the development of capital planning and budgeting in the Long-Range Plan
- Develop ad hoc reports as needed related to Project Controls
Skills/Competencies
Level of Education & Experience in general
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred.
- 3 years of project controls or cost analyst experience
Technical Skills
- Strong data analytical skills
- Strong Experience with SAP
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with scheduling software like Microsoft Project is preferred
- Experience with data visualization software like Power BI is preferred
Behavioral Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Ability to organize data and multi-task
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to present updates to the project team and management.
