Your Impact
- Optimize underwriting tools, processes, and policies to enhance team performance
- Contribute to the evolution of systems and underwriting policy to increase operational efficiency
In This Role You Will
- Assess mortgage loan applications for eligibility and risk, with attention to creditworthiness, income stability, and property valuation
- Review and analyze financial documents such as tax returns, bank statements, appraisals, and credit reports
- Make timely, informed underwriting decisions using agency, Non-QM, and company-specific guidelines
- Collaborate cross-functionally with loan officers, processors, and other team members to gather supporting information
- Stay current with industry regulations and market trends
- Make high-stakes credit decisions that directly influence company risk and borrower experience
- Mentor and support other underwriters, contributing to a strong team culture
- Maintain thorough documentation and clear communication around underwriting decisions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of relevant mortgage underwriting experience
- At least 7 years as a Mortgage Underwriter with demonstrated expertise in both Agency and Non-QM loans
- Deep understanding of mortgage lending regulations, risk assessment, and compliance
- Proficient in analyzing complex financial documents and making sound credit decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance
- Comfortable using industry-specific underwriting platforms and tools
