Overview

Are you an experienced mechatronics, automation, or industrial maintenance professional ready to share your knowledge and help shape the future workforce? Blackhawk Technical College is seeking Electo-Mechanical Technology Instructor to prepare the next generation of skilled technicians for careers in advanced manufacturing, industrial automation, robotics, and integrated maintenance systems.

 

In collaboration with Business & Industry, you will lead hands-on, college credit instruction within a flexible learning environment designed to meet the evolving needs of regional manufacturers. Instruction may include the following areas:

  • Integrated Manufacturing Systems: Troubleshooting and Maintenance
  • Industrial Electrical (DC, AC, and power distribution)
  • Electronics (digital and analog circuits and devices)
  • PLCs (basic and advanced interpretation and troubleshooting)
  • Motors and Drives (DC & AC)
  • Mechanical Systems (linkages, gears, conveyances and machine tool operations)
  • Fluid Power (hydraulics and pneumatics systems and troubleshooting/maintenance)
  • Robotics (basic programming, electrical and mechanical maintenance/troubleshooting)
  • Process Control Instrumentation for Process Based Manufacturing Systems

This is a Limited-Term Employment (LTE) instructional position is supported through grant funding and is funded through May 2028. Continuation of this position is contingent upon funding and will be reviewed as part of the annual budget process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead instruction, lab activities, and student assessment to ensure students are developing competencies aligned with program learning outcomes and industry expectations.
  • Collaborate with Business & Industry partners, workforce development organizations, and K-12 partners to support the development of a strong advanced manufacturing and mechatronics talent pipeline.
  • Collaborate with district manufacturers as part of the WTCS Core Industry Grant initiative to assess workforce training needs, develop customized training solutions, and ensure grant performance goals are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop curriculum, instructional materials, lab projects, and assessment strategies that support flexible, student-centered technical education in both face-to-face and blended learning environments.
  • Support student success through advising, mentoring, industry engagement, and collaboration with faculty, advisors, and student support staff.
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging manufacturing technologies, automation systems, and industry trends to ensure program relevance and alignment with employer needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Seven (7) years of related industrial experience in mechatronics, industrial maintenance, automation, robotics, electrical systems, manufacturing technology, or a related field;

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with at least three (3) years of related industry experience

 OR

  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired. (Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree is at least 7 years (14,000 hours) of related work experience.)

 AND

  • Two (2) years of experience working with integrated manufacturing, automation, or mechatronics systems.
