Program Manager, Clinical Diagnosis Accuracy

About the role

Park Nicollet is looking to hire a Diagnosis Accuracy Clinical Program Manager to join our team!  Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day. 

Position Summary:

Highly skilled clinician to support the ongoing work of the Diagnosis Accuracy Program. Individual will support program through reviewing patient records to identify diagnosis code specificity, missed diagnosis codes, outreach opportunities, and potential suspect conditions. Individual will also provide education and guidance to clinicians in diagnosis accuracy. 

Required Qualifications:

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

  • Advanced Practice Clinicians either Master of Science in Nursing degree (Nurse Practitioner), Physician Assistant (PA), or Registered Nurse (RN) with clinical coding experience
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience
  • Experience with leading efforts to support clinicians in documentation and coding.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record and billing modules 

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

  • Maintain a current state certified registered nurse’s licensure.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medical coding (physiology, medical terminology, disease process and clinical content of health record), ICD-10, procedures, clinical documentation and regulatory (coding and billing) requirements
  • Operate computer and utilize software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and EMR.

Preferred Qualifications:

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

  • Recommend Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-P) Certification, AHIMA accredited Registered Health Information (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administer (RHIA), 
  • Recommend Certified Risk Coder (CRC) certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of auditing concepts and principles
  • Knowledge of multiple payment and risk adjustment methodologies used by government and commercial payers.
  • Ability to provide guidance and training to professional and technical staff in diagnosis accuracy.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills and judgment.
  • Ability to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Ability to self-direct work, detail orientated and organized.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing environment with differing perspectives and ability to resolve situations effectively.
