ITA is seeking a Director, Human Resources to join our team in a hybrid position at our headquarters in Newport News, VA.
Responsibilities
The Director of Human Resources (HR) is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of HR policies and programs within the organization. This role involves strategic planning, leadership, and ensuring that all HR practices align with the company’s goals and objectives. The Director of HR will lead and mentor a team of HR professionals, manage employee relations, and drive initiatives related to talent development and retention. This individual will spearhead HR operations through a clear trajectory toward a Vice President role, supporting the company's expansion through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the organization’s strategic goals.
- Advise senior management on HR-related issues and trends.
- Forecast and plan for future human resource needs.
- Lead and mentor the HR team, providing guidance and support.
- Manage HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
- Oversee the development and execution of HR policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement effective talent acquisition strategies.
- Oversee recruitment processes to attract, select, and retain top talent.
- Implement and manage employee development programs to enhance skills and career growth.
- Address and resolve employee issues and conflicts in a fair and effective manner.
- Promote a positive organizational culture and work environment.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
- Oversee the design and implementation of competitive compensation and benefits programs.
- Conduct market research to ensure compensation packages are competitive.
- Manage employee benefits administration and vendor relationships.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies related to HR practices.
- Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Utilize HR metrics and data to inform decision-making and improve HR processes.
- Prepare and present reports on HR activities, trends, and issues to senior management.
- Drive organizational development initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Facilitate change management processes and support organizational transformation efforts.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, PHR) preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Thorough understanding of state-specific employment laws as warranted.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
