What you’ll do
Focus area: Exterior Commodity
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- The Exterior Commodity Manager is responsible to establish and execute Scout’s North America Exterior sourcing and supply strategy for all of Scout’s models production in the North American Region.
- This role will lead a cross-matrixed team of buyers, who will have the direct responsibility to source and secure supply for all Interior related components for Scout’s products in North America.
- Ensure the best value, most advantageous balance of price, quality, and performance.
- Additionally, the Exterior Purchasing Manager will have the responsibility to lead the development and industrialization of Scout’s Exterior suppliers in North America.
- Work together with others in the Scout team by participating in pre-souring audits to confirm acceptability of new suppliers
- Establish sourcing strategy for assigned commodities and product groups, lead the sourcing process up to and including contract award
- Act as program manager during the pre-production phase, ensuring that all industrialization at suppliers achieve the project requirements in terms of timing, cost, engineering and quality
- Evaluate and apply technical changes to parts / services, ensuring that cost, quality and delivery objectives are met
- Lead cross-functional evaluation of suppliers’ preparedness for series production, together with Scout Quality, Engineering, and Logistics teams
- Prepare and execute negotiated contractual documents and nomination agreements
- Lead and mentor the purchasing team, fostering a collaborative and high motivating and-performing work environment.
- Set performance targets for team members and provide regular feedback and development opportunities.
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (technical, supply-chain, business, finance)
- 5+ years in purchasing with experience developing and executing automotive component procurement sourcing and category strategies
- 2+ years’ experience in Leadership/Management of a complex international team
- Entrepreneurially minded
- Able to manage multiple and changing activities within a high-pressure environment
- A reputation for developing and nurturing excellent stakeholder and partner supplier relationships
- A passion for creating something new
- Ability to find creative solutions to complex problems
- A collaborative approach - working as a team to achieve ambitious goals
