The Technical Assistance Director will lead, design and deliver technical assistance for the Maryland Center for Community Schools (MCCS) working in collaboration with the faculty, students, and staff at Towson University, Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), school districts and a series of state universities.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

 

 

  • Design regional technical assistance center strategy; Build and execute a support plan for the lead and regional technical assistance centers at University System of Maryland (USM) campuses

  • Plan, oversee and deliver professional development offerings at the Lead Technical Assistance Center (MCCS) including but not limited to webinars and annual convening for community school staff.  

  • Conduct evaluations of professional development offerings at the Lead Technical Assistance Center (MCCS), determining outcomes and effectiveness

  • Collaborate with a team including the MCCS director as well as MSDE to create and launch a request for proposals for regional technical assistance centers at USM institutions

  • Arrange and conduct meetings for university and school system partners to attend at Towson University; Collaborate with the National Center for Community Schools and other partners.

  • Travel to regional technical assistance centers to build relationships and capacity for completing professional development work in community schools

 

 

The work schedule requires flexibility for in-state and out-of-state travel

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

 

Qualifications and Skills

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education, social work or related field
  • The successful candidate must have a minimum of five years of experience
  • Experience building partnerships with community schools, universities, and/or other non-profit partners

  • Experience designing and delivering professional learning experiences for adults

  • Knowledge and experience in the field of community schools

  • Ability to evaluate and measure programs

  • Understanding of university contexts

  • Strong communication and collaborative skills

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD, EdD or equivalent
  • Experience as a community school coordinator

  • Experience in Canva, Bitly, MS Excel and Qualtrics

  • Familiarity with using video teleconferencing platforms such as Zoom
